That roll is housed in an \naluminium housing and sealed with a rubber plate which allows the two \nwire conductors to come out. Air can enter through the two \nholes if they are not properly sealed due to oxidation of the wire, hardening of\n the rubber through aging or excessive temperature, or an excessively long soldering process \nthat melts the rubber where it contacts the wires. Extreme conditions in\n the power supply, such as ripple current, can also make a capacitor hot and cause the \nfluid to evaporate. Some capacitors have a vent hole which opens if the \npressure becomes too high.\u003cbr\u003eThis is not an extreme example, but I once had a\n PHILIPS 2200µF capacitor that measured only 1551µF after all those years.
